Natural Methods for Hair Removal

Posted by Adrienne Gossett on

Okay ladies, let's get real for a minute. It may be gross and it may be embarrassing, but many of us deal with it every since day. I’m talking about body hair. It grows where it wants and when it wants. It can sometimes feel like no matter how much we pluck, shave, or wax the hair is always there. And who has a small fortune to spend on laser hair removal treatments. I don’t know about you, but I don’t have that kind of money.

I also don’t exactly like the idea of using chemical after chemical to remove hair from the body. Even though there are various creams, waxes, and gels on the market that are meant to remove hair, they still contain chemicals that are absorbed into the body through the skin. After many Google and Pinterest searches, I have found a few natural methods for hair removal to aid in getting rid of unwanted body hair without the use of chemicals.

Sugar Lemon Facial

2 tablespoons of sugar

10 tablespoons of water

2 teaspoons of lemon juice

In a small bowl combine the sugar and water. Then add the lemon juice and mix well. Apply the mixture to your face in the direction of hair growth on your face. Let the mixture rest for 15 to 20 minutes. Wash the mixture off by gently rubbing the mixture with your hands.

Repeat this process two to three times a week to see a reduction in facial hair

Sugar, Honey and Lemon Wax

1 tablespoon of sugar

1 teaspoon of lemon juice

1 teaspoon of organic honey

Water (optional to make the paste thinner)

Cornstarch or all purpose flour- 1 to 2 teaspoons

Piece of cloth or waxing strip

In a small bowl combine the sugar, lemon and honey. Heat the mixture on the stove over low heat until the mixture is a smooth paste. If the mixture is too thick add water until the proper consistency is achieved. All the mixture to cool to room temperature.

Clean and dry the areas on the body where the wax will be applied. Dust the areas with cornstarch or all purpose flour. In the direction of the hair growth, apply a generous amount of the warm sugar, lemon and honey mixture. Cover the area with a cloth or waxing strip and press firmly. In the opposite direction, pull the strip in the opposition direction to effectively remove unwanted hair.

Rise any excess mixture off with warm soapy water. Once completely done, rinse and dry the areas and apply a moisturizer.

Banana & Oatmeal Scrub

1 ripe banana

1-2 teaspoons of oatmeal

Smash the banana into a paste consistency and oatmeal. Mix well. Apply a generous amount of the paste to areas on the body that have unwanted hair. Rub the paste mixture in a circular motion. Allow the paste to rest for 15 to 20 minutes on the hairy area. Wash the paste completely off using warm water.

Repeat this process twice a week to get rid of unwanted hair from various parts of the body, including the face.

Egg Mask Facial

½ tablespoon of corn flour

1 egg white

1 tablespoon of sugar

In a bowl combine egg white, corn flour, and sugar. Stir the ingredients until it makes a smooth paste. Apply the mixture to the face, like a face mask, and allow it to set for 20-25 minutes. Once the mixture has dried completely, peel the egg mask off in the in the opposition direction of your facial hair growth. Rise any excess mask residue off with warm soapy water and apply a moisturizer.

Repeat this procedure two to three times a week to completely get rid of unwanted facial hair.
